TESTIMONIALS
"I could not be more grateful to have participated in the internship and mentorship offered by Kate Moodie at Mood of Living. Kate is an amazing woman with an incredible career history and is an amazing teacher. She is extraordinarily patient and kind, and she took the time every day to explain our tasks, the reasoning behind each one, and how to complete them. I learned so many things that will help me be successful in the future. I have further developed my research journalism skills and even gained the opportunity to dip my toes into website design. I also enjoyed working with a team of other students my age, collaborating on stories to pitch and revising them together."

"The skills I have gained in the internship are often overlooked in university classes and other internship programs, but are definitely some of the most important professional skills to have. Kate cares about her interns' input and opinions, and we hold brainstorming sessions to generate new ideas for the company. Other internships often delegate simple tasks to interns, but at MoL, I felt my opinions were valued, and my voice was heard. An internship at MoL will allow you to grow professionally and gain confidence for your future career, all while having fun and working as part of a small team that cares deeply

This summer, I had the wonderful opportunity to work at Mood of Living as an Associate Lifestyle Editor.
It's been a highly informative experience learning the innerworkings of an online publication. From honing my writing and editing skills to navigating the fields of marketing. In social media, e-commerce, and graphic design, I've gained hands-on experience in every aspect of the business.
One of the highlights of this experience has been delving into the realm of sustainability. Through engaging projects centered around researching sustainable companies and eco-certifications, I have cultivated a stronger understanding of sustainable business practices.
This newfound insight will undoubtedly shape my future endeavors and contributions toward a more responsible, conscious approach to business.
I'd like to give a huge thank you to Kate Moodie for being an amazing mentor and boss this summer. It's been an honor learning from someone with so much experience in fashion editing, branding, and entrepreneurship.

"The amount of information I have learned—regarding branding, writing style, and conducting interesting interviews—has overwhelmingly helped me with working with magazines. This internship really pushed me out of my comfort zone—relating so closely with people. As a features writer, I was always used to communicating with my higher-ups and team members via email rather than Zoom. However, I learned how to work with a team fully and had a cohort of other brilliant students to support and curate good ideas. What a blessing to work under such a talented, experienced, and empathetic leader as Kate Moodie. I wouldn't have had access to the opportunities being presented to me right now without this summer internship. Thank you."

"I had a wonderful experience interning at Mood of Living. Despite being on Zoom in 2020—amidst the height of the pandemic—interning here made my days a bit brighter. I had the pleasure of working in a friendly and supportive environment with bright-minded people. I was able to use and expand my experience in copyediting, editorial writing, and research. Additionally, I built my writing portfolio and learned how to pitch stories. While collaborating on stories with other interns, I learned to accept constructive feedback professionally. Now, as a recent NYU graduate, I can say that my internship experience at Mood of Living has helped me tremendously in learning that I am on the right path of doing what I love."

"Mood of Living helped me refine my interests as a student, as well as gain experience within the professional industry. Kate allowed me to attend a fashion show on Mood of Living’s behalf, which was incredibly inspiring and insightful. Prospective interns should be willing to work hard, be open to new things, and learn wherever they can. I would absolutely recommend this internship to anyone searching for a career in any field, as Kate truly does have our best interests at heart and will find a place for you within her magazine where you will become a better student and worker."

""Over the course of the summer of the 2022 internship, I gained incredibly valuable insight and experience while working directly with Kate and the cohort of other interns. This internship allows students of all backgrounds to find meaningful work behind the scenes of a digital editorial publication. From the technology side of WordPress management and Google Analytics oversight to the creative aspects of content exploration, critical research processes, and text editing, the Mood of Living internship is an all-access experience. With an abundance of knowledge and top-notch expertise in the fashion, beauty, and lifestyle industries, Kate Moodie is a wonderful leader and thoughtful advisor throughout the entire internship. The Mood of Living Editorial Internship was one of the most worthwhile experiences of my career thus far. Kate is a wonderful mentor and teacher who truly cares about Mood of Living’s sustainable mission and her interns' success. I learned so much about clean beauty brands, knowledge that will influence me not just as a professional but as a consumer. I can never look at my perfume collection the same!
As a 25-year-old student and theatre professional, I initially wasn’t sure whether taking on an editorial internship would be right for me, but I’m so glad I did. Even in the short span of a semester, I was able to explore an industry I had always been interested in but knew little about. Kate lifted the curtain on the glamour of the beauty industry, teaching valuable skills that will serve me across varying fields in my future endeavors, including WordPress and communication with PR representatives. I would recommend the opportunity to intern for Kate Moodie and Mood of Living to college students and young professionals of all ages. Thank you, Kate!

“What I valued most about my time at Mood of Living was the inviting and accepting atmosphere. Every meeting functioned as an opportunity not only to grow as a working student but also to share my story and be myself in a working environment. At its core, Mood of Living is about telling authentic, inspiring stories- about environmental entrepreneurs, about its founder, Kate Moodie, and about yourself. Over the course of the summer session, I gained invaluable experience, from cultivating a story from the initial research phase to the final run-through, interviewing and collaborating with sustainable leaders, and working alongside passionate, hardworking students like me from across the country. As an outlet for creativity and an inlet for professional editing experience, Mood of Living offers a meaningful, exciting, and increasingly rare opportunity to learn more while doing good.”

"Working with Kate Moodie at Mood of Living was very inspirational, and I learned a lot during my time with her. I learned more about small businesses and the sustainable practices within corporations and organizations. This inspired me to be mindful of the things I buy and how I live. I learned how to work on the back end of websites and how a digital media company is run. Kate is excellent at teaching people how to do things; she is very patient and ensures we understand what we have to do and how to do it before letting us dive in. She always let us ask questions and give our ideas, and she always took them into consideration. I learned a lot of things, but I appreciate the time Kate took to explain things when I asked questions and show me how to do something more than once so I could fully grasp it."

“My semester working with Kate Moodie and the Mood of Living magazine was truly transformative. I initially became interested in MoL because of its mission to create a more sustainably conscious world through education.
I found myself personally struggling to find a career that both excites me and makes a positive difference. Coming into MoL, I was hoping to see if the magazine space was the right fit for me. However, Kate Moodie helped me discover a new possible career path of entrepreneurship and social enterprise.
Unlike most other internship opportunities, Kate gives direct 1-on-1 feedback, mentorship, and guidance. Before really diving into her personal goals, Kate made a clear effort in our Zoom meetings to understand me as a person. She always wanted to hear my own honest thoughts about any project we were working on. She even made multiple efforts to come meet other interns and me in person, despite not living in the same city.”
